In April, two of the members from the Swiss IAAS committee attended the motivational weekend in Belgium which took place from April 13th until April 16th in Louvain-La-Neuve.
Everyone arrived on Thursday at around noon and we had a quick lunch with sandwiches. In the afternoon, we visited the Greenhouse of the university where they showed us some of the projects they are working on. In the evening we visited the brewery “Brasse Temps” where we tried some delicious Belgian beers. After that, we had dinner and played some games to get to know each other.
On Friday, we got up early to get a train to Brussels. There, we visited the Atomium and had some lunch. In the afternoon, we visited the aquaponic farm BIGH. It was amazing to see how they can have a sustainable, circular food production in the middle of a big city! In the evening, we went to a fries restaurant to have some Belgian fries and then we went back to Louvain-La-Neuve where we ended the evening in a students’ bar.
On Saturday, we had a later start to the day. After breakfast, we had an IAAS workshop about leadership. Then, we had a Pesto Pasta lunch and in the afternoon, we had a chocolate easter egg hunt through Louvain-La-Neuve where we discovered the city. After that, the preparations for Trade Fair started. The Trade Fair was so much fun and the Älpler-Magronen were a hit;) The evening ended with a fun dance party and a full stomach.
On Sunday, everyone left after a good breakfast. This was an amazing long weekend and the people that we met were truly so inspiring and cool. It was an unforgettable experience!
